Steve Bannon was released from federal prison Tuesday, just a week before Election Day, as he prepares to retake the helm of his right-wing media platform. A former chief executive of Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, Bannon has maintained strong support for the ex-president, even during his incarceration in Connecticut since July. Despite his absence, Bannon continued to influence the presidential race through his 'War Room' podcast.

Upon his release, Bannon was greeted by his daughter, Maureen, and he is expected to resume his radio program promptly. Bannon was convicted in 2022 on two counts of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena related to investigations into the January 6 Capitol riot. He is appealing his conviction.

While in prison, Bannon's influence waned, with 'War Room' podcast rankings dropping significantly. However, signs of resurgence are emerging as Bannon prepares his return to the scene. The show remains popular among election denial activists.

It's predicted that Bannon will remain a key figure post-Election Day as he mobilizes his audience once more. Although the podcast primarily engages the Trump base, a significant portion includes independent listeners.

Bannon's release has been met with enthusiasm by his podcast's fill-in hosts. Celebrations included a special offer from a well-known election conspiracy theorist. On the show, rhetoric reminiscent of the 'Stop the Steal' movement was used, with claims of "ballot warfare."

Bannon is recognized for his skill in turning current events into elaborate narratives fueling grassroots movements. He plans a press conference in New York to mark his release.
