Federal prosecutors asked a federal court late Friday to sentence Oath Keepers' founder Stewart Rhodes, to 25 years of prison for plotting against the peaceful transfer power. They argued that the punishment for Rhodes, the leader of the far-right organization, was a crucial moment for the reckoning after the attack on the Capitol in 2021.

The 25-year sentence, if it is ultimately handed down, would be the longest ever given in the wave more than 1,000 prosecutions resulting from the attack on the Capitol.
