In the top 15 cities, several were also among the largest population gainers between 2021 and 2022. Fort Worth gained the most people year-over-year. It grew by 19,170. Phoenix and San Antonio were ranked No. This measure places Phoenix and San Antonio at No. Houston (No. No. 13).

When comparing growth in a different manner -- by percentage and not numerical growth -- a city in Northern California ranked second. Santa Cruz's population grew by 12.5% between 2021 and 2022, reaching 61,800 people, according to the Census Bureau.
