Involuntary Manslaughter Trial Begins for Armorer in ‘Rust’ Set Shooting

The trial for the armorer involved in the fatal shooting on the set of the movie ‘Rust,’ where actor Alec Baldwin discharged a weapon, killing the cinematographer, commenced on Thursday. Prosecutors accused the armorer, referred to as Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, of negligence and insufficient safety checks on the gun. They argued that her carelessness led to the presence of live ammunition on set. The incident occurred during a rehearsal when Baldwin unintentionally fired a round, causing the death of the cinematographer. Baldwin is facing a separate trial on an involuntary manslaughter charge.
